On March 29th, 2021, the Board of Directors of the New Urban Communities Authority issued a decision prohibiting the sale of plots of lands to individuals and limiting it only to the real estate developers and government agency projects.

This recent decision amends the previous NUCA decision no. 84 issued on August 6th, 2015 concerning the mechanism of dealing with plots of land belonging to companies, investors and individuals in new cities.

However, the prohibition on the sale of land to individuals is not permanent as the decision of the Board of Directors of the New Urban Communities Authority was to (postpone) the sale of plots of land, so after a certain period of time the New Urban Communities Authority may start selling the plots of land to the individuals.

Notwithstanding, while the decision prohibits the sale of lands owned by NUCA to the individuals, but it does not extend to prevent the individuals who already own land in areas subject to the NUCA’s jurisdiction from selling their land to individual buyers.
