"Dr. Hegazy will be submitting an official complaint before the Public Prosecutor against the former government headed by Ahmed Nazeef, accusing the latter of intentionally committing harmful acts against the public interest by causing the Egyptian banks to miss the opportunity of collecting their debts due by Mr. Wagih Seyag.
The official complaint is based on the fact that as a result of the settlement between the former Egyptian Government and Mr. Wagih Seyag in the ICSID arbitration case relating to the confiscation of investment-related property belonging to Mr. Wagih Seyag, the latter obtained an 80 million worth bank cheque. This amount was delivered directly to the hands of Mr. Seyag instead of being delivered to the Trustee in Bankruptcy in Egypt, which constitutes a grave violation of the State’s public interest, as the funds of the creditors, mostly banks, are legally considered as public funds."
